The most I have ever made was $15 an hour and I was "User Support" in the IT department at a mid sized company. I am currently making $12 an hour but will not be keeping this job as it's not working out and will most likely have to take a pay cut again I was just offered a $13 an hour job, but it's 105 miles away (one way) and is only a 2-4 week project.
I have relatives where you live. That has been a tough employment market for decades BEFORE the current economic situation, so I can only imagine how it is now. I hope you can find something better. If the beach has rebuilt and has enough nightlife, perhaps you might do better as a bartender or food server (waiter/waitress) in a good restaurant, bar, etc.
Serious bank for the panhandle of WV! May I ask what your profession is to earn that much in one of the more unpopulated, non-city areas? Are you an employee or IC?
I'd like to know what Zentropia does for a living! LOL
Let's see, about $50/hr. which includes differential for third shift and some 27 years of experience.
I must say it's enough for my life. If I hadn't built up stupid debt (high debt, low interest for life) I'd be in great shape instead of just good.
My first job was $1.60/hr. The minimum wage had just gone up from $1.25.

Damn, I used to make $30/hour, right now I'm looking for work and will settle for a third of that.
