I will shortly start employment for a large organisation who have offices in England and America amongst other countries doing cleaning/housekeeping duties in a hospital. I have never done this type of work before as I have always been employed in administration. I will be employed initially to work at the weekends and will continue working in administration during the week. However I have worked out that I will actually get paid more as a cleaner due to the enhanced salary I will earn working unsocial hours and so intend to drop the administration work.
I am happy to clean in the short term but do not wish to do this type of work for ever. Are their opportunities for advancement? If so what are they. Is there anyone who has actually bettered themselves in the same/similar circmstances?
Yes, you can combine your careers and manage the one. Often that's what's needed most - someone who can manage housekeeping departments, even work out contracts if you get high enough up. Or open your own business and run it.
