Krakatoa - exotic and mysterious, with a catastrophic history, and a pain to reach too!

Cairo or Istanbul?

I'll say Krakatoa 'cause it's easier to spell, lol.

Flanders (Dutch-speaking part of Belgium) or Wallonia (French-speaking part of Belgium)?

Well tough because I'd go to Cairo to see the Pyramids, but I find Istanbul a way more interesting city.

Flanders - more renowned and charming cities (though I prefer the French language).

Rome or Venice?

Cairo or Istanbul?
I've never really been interested in Istanbul or Turkey, but always found Egypt fascinating. The ability to see the pyramids and all that... and hey, who wouldn't want to be able to say they visited a place during a tumultuous time of change?

EDIT: actually, upon further deliberation... I've had a few very close friends who were natives of Egypt, but have been screwed over by a couple Turkish people in business dealings and had a disproportionate number of unpleasant dealings with Turkish nationals, including a fistfight over prolonged inappropriate behavior towards a female friend about a year ago (I won). It also doesn't help that I'm friends with a fairly large number of Armenians. These things have left a negative opinion of Turkey in my mind, as opposed to a positive opinion of Egypt.

I don't like feeling biased or negative towards a nation or culture, so... given the opportunity, I'd choose to go to Istanbul in the hopes of allaying those negative thoughts and being exposed to the positives that Turekey and its people have to offer. I know that it's a very culturally rich place with a fascinating history, and would prefer not to associate it with this rich culture and its and all the good it has to offer than with exceptionally crummy people who through no fault of the nation's own happen to be from there.

Flanders. I think that most people in the US think of Belgium as being more aligned with French culture, so it'd be cool to get a different perspective on it.

Tristan Da Cunha or Stanley (Falkland Islands)?

Probably the Falklands, it'd be interested to see what the islanders are like.

I choose Kerala India, but it was a close call. I recently changed my opinions for Sri Lanka and it did become more interesting and impressive.

What are the levels of similarities between Kerala province/state of Southwestern India vs. Sri Lanka.

They seem to have different and more peaceful relations compared to Tamil Nadu Southeastern India vs. Sri Lanka that have a recent history of conflict.

I notice Amsterdam vs. Tokyo is similar to the Sweden vs. South Korea example.

Dutch culture and Japanese culture both appear pleasant and exciting to me with a lot to offer. It is almost equally tied with my preferences for Amsterdam vs. Tokyo.

Overall, I choose Amsterdam for now because I am going through a phase where I prefer medium sized populated cities instead of pretentious super huge and crowded cities. Also, I prefer some of the architecture, urban scenery, and urban entertainment options in Amsterdam compared to Tokyo, even though that is nice in Tokyo too.

Are there any specific reasons for why you selected South Korea compared to Sweden?

Anywhere in the world except Phuket. Whatever -- Pyongyang, Novosibersk, Juarez, Lambeth, Indianapolis, Mogadishu, anywhere. Ajaccio, for sure.

Texarkana ,Texas, or Texarkana, Arkansas?
