North Korean soldiers are frail and very weak. They are short and extremely skinny because they are not fed properly. This malnourishment causes the overall average height of North Korean soldiers to fall way below the healthy average. These kids need to have proper nutrition to grow, but instead they are stunted at a very young age. North Korea's height requirement for enlisting was 150cm in 2008, but now it got lowered to 142cm in 2012. This is truly tragic. If soldiers are like this, we can only imagine how the peasants are like. South Korea's average height for men in their 20s is 173cm. North Korea is 158cm. That is a huge difference that comes directly from the government's tyrannical and selfish policies.

and the height requirement in the West? 5'6 (170 cm)?
Smaller soldiers do blend in easier especially in most of these war countries, could be usefull in secret missions. That's why i don't think a group of only 6'3 caucasian bodybuilding machines are the answer, I think it's good to have a mix.

At least when they open up, they'll be flooding the free world with a bunch of teeny, cute, pocket-sized women.

142CM!? That's like 4 foot 8. In the US you're required to sit in a protective child seat while in the car if you're that short.

I say don't be beguiled by the size. The smaller soldiers, in all races, can easily be among the most deadly, and not just because of subterfuge abilities. I suspect something to do with the metabolism at that size.

Give them a few years in western type democracies and a diet full of concentrated carbohydrates and they'll go from looking like this...

to looking and behaving like this...

No idea and I use feet and inches for height so even if I did i'd have no idea what 142cm is.

I doubt if Vietnamese solders were any taller than that, and they whipped our butts. No wonder we are so scared of the North Koreans coming and taking over America and setting up a military occupation of our country.

142 cm is 4'8". NK must be doing something right, if all those low-birth-weight children are surviving to military age, they must be getting good nutrition and plenty of exercise. There are 76 countries that have higher infant mortality rates than North Korea, some of them fouir times as high. All 76 of them have their capitalist economies firmly under the control of private corporations. http://www.indexmundi.com/g/r.aspx?c=kn&v=29

The US Social Security Administration considers 132 cm to be a disability for an adult male, where there are no contributing medical conditions that cause the short stature. Under 150 cm is regarded as a disability if there is a medical condition that inhibits growth.

That is true but 142 cm is way too short. I read that the average Navy SEAL is around 178 cm and 80 kg.

American soldiers are pumped up on steroids so much they cant walk (or think) properly. Id be more afraid of a wily little Korean with quick reflexes than some yank grunt who watches too much wrestling.

If you actually believe any of what you just wrote, you should be afraid of trying to operate machinery and take special care when using dental floss.
