Canada / Australia (Both countries pretty much avoided the international financial crisis. I probably give a little more kudos to Canada, considering that it depends much more on the US than Australia and yet, no crisis!)

Schools(grade school)

Canada (Wild guess)

Universities-

United States (Can't beat Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, Yale, etc)

Quality of Life?

Australia (Would had chosen Canada, but the severe winters are a put off. The US has a little bit of everything, but Australia has everything plus nice weather even in the coldest areas. That sounds good enough to me!)

Best cities

United States (While Canadian and Australian cities are on average cleaner and newer looking than US cities, there is simply no comparison to New York's influence and importance, plus the variety of just about everything anyone can think of.)

Best skylines

United States (The variety is stunning.)

Nightlife

United States (What the heck is this category?)

Brightest Future?

Australia (Canada may face a split with Quebec and that can cause problems, I think. The US is in a deep mess right now, so, that's that.)

There are plenty of very various countries in America.
I guess by "America" you mean the country called "United States"

1. Australia. even if I've never been there, it seems wild, with nice climates and nature-friendly
2. Canada. I lived in Montréal, liked it but definitly too cold.
3. USA, big and various but too much culture of violence to me.

If you read the OP you would of read the very first words "Best countries to live in" so i highly doubt we would be talking about the Continent of America.

I like the US but I've heard Australia is nice to vacation to. Canada kind of bores me.
