what if they say "we will get you to taco bell to make you feel at home" and it was the first time you ever tried a taco?
oh well, at least they were delicious!
I'd be like "hell yea lets go!"
they now have tacos with Shells that are basically a big Dorito, taste absolutely amazing!
Taco Bell food is not even close to being considered Mexican food though.
taco bell might not be considered mexican for you, cause mexican culture is much more intrincated in your country than in mine. We dont even have mexican food here, so taco bell is the closest i ever experienced to "mexican food". Thats how far my culture is from mexico, and thats why it is absurd that we are lumped together.

A lot of Mexican food in the U.S. is Tex-Mex. Not all, but most.

I agree, and if you do come back go to Chipotle. they have tacos and burritos that are 10 times better than the ones at taco bell.
When i lived in USA 10 years ago, when I told people we were from Latin America, first they were shocked I was white (?) and second they were treating me like if i was Mexican. Example "we are gonna go eat Mexican food, to make you feel as home" they said, and they took me to taco bell and made homemade fajitas, and you know what?? That was the first time ever i had Mexcian food!!!! in USA!!! And to this day there are NO fast food mexican places. Mexican food is FAR more known there than here!!
Don't tell them you're from Latin America. Say Argentina. And as pointed out the Latin America = Mexico isn't true everywhere in the country, particularly the Northeast. But there people might assume Latin America = Caribbean, or maybe Central America. Which isn't much better.
