You're being too rational. That never works with these people. I could ask how it is possible for Europeans to be lazy socialists who mooch off the government while still handing over half their income to the government, but why bother? They live in their own bubble - with their own "news" organisations, think tanks, schools, radio stations and corporate-funded scientists - anything to escape reality.

Also if we are comparing a country to a whole continent then I think we know who wins. The funny part is America is still considered better, now they both have their disadvantages and advantages, America's crime sucks, are education(doesn't include universities or private schools) and healthcare isn't very good either but other than that we are doing very good.

Free healthcare and more money to retiree, you failed to mention the UK has higher taxes, more cost of basic necessities, everything is more expensive their.
Brits have rose-tinted views of other places. A lot of us dream of moving to a warm paradise in Australia or Spain, but not America. However, once many of them realise that Australia isn't what they thought it would be, they end up returning with their tails between their legs, having spent a fortune emigrating, only to realise that they can't escape their problems by moving abroad, if anything, their problems get worse as they feel isolated or distant from friends and relatives, they miss the UK's culture, history and dislike living in an overly-suburban area and lack of decent infrastructure. The weather is pretty boring too.

Anyway, I'm glad so many Brits are eager to live abroad - shows that we have a taste for traveling and love to explore. I would love to live abroad - for about 2 years. But I think I'd return to the UK, because I like it here. I also like how Brits are so willing to to admit that the UK has a ton of flaws and faults - our country is not perfect by any means.

Honestly I was only in London for like 5 hours, but I'm just basing this on a source. That's true about Australia, I think I already told you guys this but my friend is a American living in Australia and she seriously hates it their, she is Muslim and always are getting rude looks and stares at her, its sad. Australia is very expensive! But yeah I agree!

There are probably lots of young people who think America is 'awesome' due to NYC and Hollywood, but Australia and Spain are places people talk about moving to the most.

Well I checked the first 3 pages of threads on this forum.

One thread asks if Americans really are more ignorant than any other nations. It is worded in a way that is defending against the stereotype of ignorant Americans -> not anti-American.

There is one other thread, made by an American, asking where people have found the most anti-Americanism on their travels. This is not anti-American either.

I think there have been a number of unsubstantiated and unprovoked attacks against the USA in this forum, and I can admit to making some comments that can be construed to be anti-American.

However, in my case at least, I don't mean it in any way seriously. As I've stated elsewhere, I actually get on much better with people from the USA than the natives in my own country.

I hear that all the time! Most people just don't understand that CHEAP means Chinese crap and plastic food!
Houses build from 2x4 and plywood, and no basement. Those build from stone and good quality material cost more than same in Europe.
Everything is more expensive in Europe because it has QUALITY. Quality stuff in the US is expensive too. Actually more expensive than in Europe. The only products cheaper in the US are electronics.
The taxes are already explained in previous posts.

I'm all for everyone chasing for their happiness, wherever that leads them. If they're happier in UK or anywhere outside the US, great. I know many that this is the case. But more people are clamoring to emigrate to the US than anywhere else still, that's the reality. For all of the problems and many of them I agree are problems or challenges, we're still the place people vote to come to with their feet.
