Indeed, they could be from Paris, that is if they were half as tall. I suspect Buenos Aires has closer matches, as it has a lot of Parisian-like midrises. I knew the last was from Bucharest but not where exactly so just googled "old new building Bucharest".
How did you know where in Manhattan to look? They looked like Manhattan buildings to me, but I wouldn't have known where exactly to look in Manhattan (well probably not the Lower East Side). I like the Paris street better than the NYC one, less overwhelming and cozier. The NYC street probably wins in variety of heights and building styles. Buenos Aires does seem rather similar to Manhattan, I'm looking forward to it being on street view.
Here's a photo of a building that might also be French styled?, on Broadway at the edge of Midtown Manhattan. Former hotel built in the late 1860s that got convert to pricey condos. A very well known 80 year old building is four blocks to the north.

I knew these two French style buildings were on Broadway in the Upper West side, don't remember why exactly. As to the Midtown South building, yeah it's reminiscent of French style Second Empire but applied to what looks like a typical New York cast iron building with its large windows.

Lol, I just had up a photo in one of those exact buildings you have on Google maps in Upper West Side in photo number 4 before I noticed inside Google satellite image.
Verdi Square 72nd street is probably my all time favorite area in all of NYC, and less than 5 blocks away from one of my favorite independent cafe bars, Aroma Espresso Bar.
Around 10 to 15 blocks away from 72nd street Verdi Square is 59th street Columbus Circle, another very different area of Upper West Side into Midtown in photos number 3, and 5 of post number 28/page 3.
I lived in New York City 20 years of my life, and probably lived there for too much time, even when I loved living there.
Yeah, there is wonderful, and magnificent architecture in Paris, even if it’s not quite NYC. I have visited Paris, and I love Paris equally as much compared to NYC. Some people say Buenos Aires is Paris of South America. I imagine cities like Vienna, and Prague have a monopoly of very pleasant, unique, and colorful buildings. Paris, Buenos Aires, Vienna, and Prague are all some of my favorite cities in the World, together with New York City. I have equal preference in all of those cities.
Many of the buildings in the pictures on this thread are just not "colourful".
I was thinking the same thing
