I wasn't attacking America, just pointing out an interesting fact.
I apologize if you were not trying to take a dig. I truly do. I just assumed that you were poking at us about a group of people that want us to change our name. I should not have just assumed that, and I really am sincerely sorry. I hope that you accept my apology.
Like officially it's the 'United States of America', but America more generally refers to both North and South America. The 'United States' is a descriptive term, not the name of an actual place, like Canada or Mexico. So America is just part of he Americas, the nation of the US doesn't really have it's own, unique name.
Yeah, our conventional long form is our regular name. Most nations have conventional long forms, France is French Third Republic, Italy is Italian Republic, Greece is Hellenic Republic. We are U. S. A. Some nations only have one name, Ukraine, Japan and Canada.

Apology accepted. Yes I know there are American bashers, but I actually love America in a lot of ways (not so much the politics and aspects of modern pop culture), like the landscape, food, older pop culture.etc. If not I wouldn't have travelled halfway around the world to go there now, would I?

Yes, its pathetic that the country in middle North America doesn't have a unique name to describe its place in North America. The United States of America needs to change its name maybe to something that represents the whole country like Walmartland?
America = North America and South America or The Americas "New world" and also that country that names itself after the continent.
