Ok, maybe not. Let's not feed the Russians' paranoia.

What then... ok: Yugoslavia being reunited. Everything in the world is perfect. Famine, disease, everything has been solved and we having a colony on Mars.
Better chance the world will end.

I can't really think of anything huge like a major change in terms of geopolitics or a colony on Venus, but I'm certain that more countries will have legalised gay-marriage by then(the US, Australia, Germany etc.), ourselves included. I think it's gonna be legalised within a couple of years here.
If not, there'd at least be civil union.

I don't forsee much happening in only 5 years, that's the space of 1 British parliament, we were in Iraq and Afghanistan longer than that.

Tell me about it. 2020 is just five years away and people here usually predict completely utopistic scenarios what will happen just a few years from now.

I can predict another thing here...the non-collapse of the EU. Welcoming a couple of new member states might be more possible lol.

Well if history shows one thing, if things get bad, they often get bad very quickly.

The US has an election in 2016. Depending on who gets elected, a lot can happen here than can impact the world in just that amount of time.

Are you all mad! In 5 years we have seen the most people displaced by conflict since WWII. 1/4 a million killed in Syria, a war in Europe, the rise of the far right in Europe, Nigeria in carnage, the rapid rise of ISIS, austerity hasn't even bit yet - far more on route, the change of politics in the UK, Ebola etc, etc, etc. Much can, and will, happen in 5 years.

Increasing effects of global warming. Here in California we are into our fourth year of severe drought. Steady decline of the middle class in the developed world as global corporations concentrate wealth in their own hands. Perpetual warfare in the Middle East and North Africa as ISIS and ISIS inspired clones move into and strengthen their hold in dysfunctional parts of that world.
