Really not understanding the point. BRIC was originally used for investment. BRIC then BRICS was then formed as a symbolic bloc to counter the West. With even just five countries, it wasn't very successful with how many disagreements existed among the states, not to mention how well most of their economies have since been doing. Adding more countries, especially ones like Vietnam, South Korea, Nigeria, and Mexico, will make this group pretty much useless for anything.
Just like they're paying insane money to South American and European average football players with the hope they will improve the Chinese players so they can finally qualify for the World Cup for the first time in history. 1300 million people but they still need the help from abroad, doesn't really sound like a superpower to me.
US pays good money to some soccer players in the past and it still sucks. So it is not a super power either. Why cannot you have some logic like an ordinary person

They pay good money sure but never so much as China is paying now, MLS has a salary cap like almost all team sports in the U.S.
At least they qualified to 10 World Cups and they have a population of 1000 million less than China.
It is for economic benefits. China needs a big market for its exports and investment. US and the west are not friendly and plan to raise tariff. It is only logical for China to find other markets instead

Maybe the U.S. and the rest of the West would be more friendly to China if they didn't support North Korea, just a suggestion.
why not compare sports like Rugby or Baseball? Then China would rank at the bottom.
Brazil is the no. 1 soccer country. So it is the superpower
