Although I haven't been, I expect Shanghai and Beijing are cool cities. Chinese culture seems to be cool.

I guess it's all perspective. LA is the city the rest of CA and the west coast loves to hate.

I think that is out of jealousy.

To be honest I like San Francisco more then LA, but I don't think SF is cooler then LA if that makes sense. LA is the entertainment capital of the world and probably close to being the sports capital of the world.

Shanghai is a cool city, I lived there for a little while. But even in Asia there are cooler cities. I spent a week in Beijing and while it has some amazing history and culture, I didn't find it particularly cool. The weather is too bad and the city is way too polluted. The people aren't very friendly like most Chinese. Maybe in 50 years if they can get their act cleaned up.

Shanghai and Beijing are even further than cool than Hong Kong is, like cool is on earth and they are on Neptune, but to each their own.

Helsinki. Cool of the cool. Trendy but rugged.
