In the past 2 decades or so there's been a tremendous revival of these systems around the world. You can also add LRT systems as well as many new trams fall under that category as well.

Some of mine are:

Melbourne
Toronto
San Francisco
Hong Kong
Barcelona
Prague
Vienna
Budapest
Moscow
Warsaw

Below is a list of current tram/light rail systems the UK, however many cities are now interested in the latest tram-train technology.

Tram-train - Wikipedia

Tram Train Pilot: Sheffield-Rotherham

Blackpool (Historic)

Edinburgh Trams

Greater Manchester Metrolink

South London Tramlink

Midland Metro

Nottingham Express Transit

Sheffield Supertram

Tyne and Wear Metro

Dublin also has a Light Rail/Tram system called Luas (Irish for "speed")

Whilst the Isle of Man has the historic Manx Electric Railway and historic Douglas Bay Horse Tramway

My favourites are the historic system, however the largest and most inpressive is tram system Manchester Metrolink.

Bordeaux had the first commercial tram catenary-free design, by electric power from the ground (APS).

There were some breakdowns in the first years of service but since then it is a very reliable system and today this technology is present in many French cities and for tram of Dubaï and Rio.

I remember seing this in Tours recently...

I like the design. But it's network is really modest. One line. Tours is quite small.

I guess it's common everywhere in Europe too now
