1. New York
2. London
3. Tokyo
4. Beijing
5. Paris
6. Brussels
7. Moscow
8. Seoul
9. Hong Kong
10. Singapore
11. Toronto
12. Los Angeles
13. Atlanta
14. Dubai
15. Sydney
16. Berlin
17. Guangzhou
18. Chicago
19. São Paulo
20. Mexico City

I know some of these are raising a few eyebrows.

I included Brussels because, it's the unofficial capital of Europe with the EU headquartered there. NATO is also headquartered there so IMO, it's a pretty important city.

Toronto? My perception may be off but entertainment was one of the criteria and Toronto is a major entertainment hub.

Atlanta: Travel was also a criteria and Atlanta is a major hub for air travel and is the busiest airport in the world for this reason.

1-NYC
2-LONDON
3-TOKYO
4-PARIS
5-HONG KONG
6-BEIJING
7-BRUSSELS
8-SINGAPORE
9-SEOUL
10-LOS ANGELES

*There is NO way Toronto is more influential than LA, did anyone not read lately that the size of CA's economy surpassed that of the UK? And the greater LA area accounts for the bulk of the CA's economy. The LA region is home to both the 1st AND 2nd largest ports in the US. Furthermore LA is still the entertainment capital for the US in film AND music. I felt really compelled to include this explanation because I am baffled to see Toronto placed ahead of LA time and time again with no logical argument provided. :S

11-SAN FRANCISCO

*In this tech driven economic boom and the proliferation of social media - SF and Silicon Valley wield a disproportionate amount of influence over the world... for the time being.

12-SHANGHAI
13-DUBAI
14-SYDNEY
15-CHICAGO
16-SAO PAULO
17-TORONTO
18-MEXICO CITY
19-MOSCOW
20-MUMBAI

My question why is overall desirability involved? Influential cities don't have to be desirable to be influential
1. NYC
2. LA
3. Paris
4. Milan
5. Tokyo
6. London
7. San Francisco
8. Atlanta- Most rap music and their derivatives worldwide is influenced by Atlanta rappers, even BTS arguably the biggest boy brand has heavy Atlanta influences. Biggest airport in the world.
9. Osaka-Kyoto-Kobe
10. Beijing
11. Hong Kong
12. Mumbai
13. Bangkok
14. Sao Paulo
15. Mexico City
16. Mecca
17. Istanbul
18. Moscow
19. Seoul
20. Singapore

Tokyo is nice but it is not as influential as NYC, London or even Beijing.
In the US, for example, "Beijing" shows up in the media way more than Tokyo.

That report is very interesting as it is the first I have EVER seen where Melbourne is ranked higher than Sydney.

No insult to Melbourne but I don`t see how the hell it is more important than Toronto.
