The cities where I have been to and eaten Asian food outside of Asia that fit the bill?

Sydney: I had some absolutely amazing Indian and Pakistani food there.

New York City: No more needs to be said, really. As a city with so many options, I find it rare for a restaurant with subpar food to remain in business for very long. That's not to say that every restaurant will be the most authentic, though.

Honolulu: I've had some excellent Japanese, Chinese, and Korean food here.

New Orleans: There is a large Vietnamese community in New Orleans East, and I've had some excellent Vietnamese food there.

Washington, DC/Northern Virginia/Maryland's DC suburbs: Most of DC's Asian community has spread to the DC suburbs in Northern Virginia and Maryland. There are so many good Asian options in the area.

The best food in Honolulu is Asian...everything else is pretty much MEH.

The best outside Asia compared to LA, NYC, Sydney and Vancouver? Not so sure.

I'd agree about what you wrote about Honolulu, except to say that I don't know if I'd classify Hawaiian cuisine (and I consider it among the group of the best there) as Asian, but I find it to also be delicious!

I wouldn't say Montreal is a standout Asian food city.

It's getting there. I would put it on terms with Chicago for example. Rising cities in this cuisine. Both have big Asian communities and slowly but surely are getting into the map with their cuisine. I would also throw Tijuana on this list behind these two cities.

NYC Chinatown is impressive. It feels like its the only Chinatown in Northamerica that is actually growing not dieing out.

The one in Chicago is actually growing as well. It keeps getting more and more recent arrivals from China and Taiwan and the area keeps growing into other neighbourhoods, especially the Italian, Mexican and Irish ones.
