Over one billion people and the most populous country in the world--it would make sense that in terms of aggregate numbers for power production that China would be number 1 in this for a single country after industrialization. This isn't quite the same thing as having the most influence overall especially in the context that China has not created particularly close allies. You list Germany, but Germany has extensive connections and alliances with the rest of the EU and the EU and its members have extensive connections elsewhere. The US may have recently shat the bed with a lot of its main allies over the last few years, but those connections were and are deep and aren't so frayed even today that it can't repair them in the near future.

It’s actually a lot harder to answer than one would think. Beijing is a lot bigger than DC and is China’s second largest city. I think it plays a bigger role within China then DC does within the US.

I think Beijing is essentially, with using US cities as reference points, SF, LA, Boston, and DC in terms of national clout compared to US cities. It’s not everything, but it is a lot of things. It’s the tech, entertainment, biomedical, and federal governmental center of China, but there are a lot of other centers and secondary centers. The US is more diffused, but it’s still powerful.

When the epidemic broke out in Europe, we saw that Europe was at a loss, fighting on its own Some European countries even began to abandon the Alliance Adopt a beggar thy neighbour policy Seizure of AIA anti epidemic materials without permission When Italy sends a request for assistance to its European allies, There's no response from an ally The outbreak has just begun to sprout in Europe, and has been ignored collectively. Knowing clearly that everyone is equal before the virus Transmission of new coronavirus, regardless of nationality or race However, all the big brothers and little brothers in Europe are weakening the problem. They just tell us that masks are not used and washing hands is good And the German Ministry of health constantly gives you courage, fear, fear, we don't have to worry about anything, our medical system is very strong, our medical skills are world-class

It makes sense that you ask what are allies—China, after all, effectively has none. Coronavirus like any pandemic, must eventually pass, and China has done little to endear itself with anyone else. I’m pissed because it exacerbates existing issues against overseas Asians in other countries, but this does nothing to endear myself towards the current Chinese administration.

Start to neglect No response in the middle There's only one ending A rapid outbreak After the outbreak European countries that were once united When suffering Not together But in the face of difficulties, lie down together As for those who turn against each other, let alone Germany not only robbed Switzerland's masks and gloves, but also robbed the United States of a number of materials. What gentleman tradition? What chivalry? What ally brother? Human nature is so naked in the face of disaster In the past glory, European countries have been wandering for nearly 20 years, especially Germany, France and the UK. These countries, no matter in medical treatment, policy or social development, have always had a strong sense of superiority. They have changed from believing that they have no problems, to not believing that they have problems, and finally don't know how to face them

And ultimately, they aren’t fighting and accusing each other of things by rattling their sabres. They talk things through and try to work out a way from this pandemic. This is vitally different from other countries around China which do not work with China, but instead try to react from it. I’m no of the opinion of attacking China for its own initial role in the early spread of the virus or its issues with expanding into natural wildlife rather than preserving such which would have created a good buffer against disease from such. The fact is, China in exerting its force on others has alienated countries from being its allies and that will remain an issue. The US has had a bad few years of such, but comes from a different base of at least some trust that will likely outlast the juvenile missteps of this administration. The relationships the CCP had made with its neighbors are so bad that even if the US were to reelect this current administration, the other myriad relationships and the promise of a correction from this one is still likely much more palatable than cozying up with China in the near future.

Remember that other countries can at some point be presented with a naked layout of the ethics of their actions despite short term economic advantage. Myriad countries including the UK chose the Union power in the US during its civil war versus the heavy profits of King Cotton from the southern confederacy despite the massive economic issued it could cause. The US and the West in general can still choose moral good, and as it happens to be the case, economic long-term advantage versus moral abysses and short-term comfort. The general arc in US history, though uneven and shallow sometimes, is to a more perfect union despite people on this short sample size like BigCityDreamer’s views on some things. They end up crushed and the US moves on even if not as quickly better as one might hope.

I think you should watch less American news Who told you about China's non cooperation and the surrounding countries American news only reports bad news about China Even if China donated 1.4 billion masks to the United States Outbreak in Europe It was the Chinese, not the Americans, who helped Europe in the first place European countries abandoned Serbia Serbian President turns to China for help So China helps Serbia China has helped most countries But Americans still think China has no friends Do you know what a friend is? When you are in trouble Even if it's a poorer country Yes, Pakistan donated all masks to China Italian foreign minister donates 4W mask to China When an outbreak broke out in Italy China donated more than 100 times masks

Right, and meanwhile there's a contingent of people who blame China for the outbreak and believes China more or less owes aid to other countries not as a friendly gesture, but as an obligation for messing up its initial containment. I don't really watch American news--I don't watch tv at all. I do read news in Chinese, English, and French though.
