I would own land in Maui, Hawaii. Feels very country than city like Oahu Island. Also it is American but also feels exotic. You can easily fly to Oahu to get your city fix.
I'd want some land in the mountains of Cuba. Unfortunately being a communist nation that is not a reality.
Warm tropical day time breezes (mid 80's F) and cool evenings (mid 60's F), without much variation in temperatures, appeals to me. I would want to be close to the US or Australia. Hawaii would work geographically speaking.
Need to be above 3500' (1K + meters) for the elevation to affect temperature.

What I like about Hawaii is it's the one state of America that doesn't feel like America, since it's geographically and culturally isolated. But if I could own land anywhere it would be in Tokyo somewhere. Land is limited and thus valuable, but if I can build a custom house there it would be great!
India, Kenya, South A.? Something with perspective that isn't overblown by the media (like China), Dubai's old news too and the western world even more so. Only assuming under 'buying land' you'd mean it as a long term investment that is.
When I was younger I always imagined owning a strip of land from the snow line to the tropical valley/coast in order to grow every crop immaginable in the Colombian Andes. From Pears, apples, cabbage, broccoli, plums, feijoa, potato, tomato and barley high up to coconut, avocados, bananas, aloe vera, peppers, mangos, passion fruit, cocoa & corn low down and everything else in between.

Definitely this for me too. Living in Hawaii has always been my dream.
If anyone has ever lived on an Island or similar to isolation near water... the typical activities are fishing/boating/diving and drinking.
