I'd choose Mexico any day. In Latin America people know how to LIVE life despite income levels. They are more live and let live. I don't want to live in a country that is material rich but where people are always uptight, worried about this and worried about that. It's all about family and community south of the Border. As soon as I get enough for a permanent visa it's off to Rio for me.
I am just more into that Latin warmth. I don't want to live anywhere where people don't know how to enjoy life and can't relax and that seems to be any country north of the border.
I'd rather live in a hut in Mexico than a mansion in Canada or the US.

If I was more fluent in Spanish I wouldn't mind living in one of the safer countries in South America like Chile or Peru (both have much lower homicide rates than the US).
Canada!!!!!! I love Canadians--and it is so beautiful up there!! The people are usually very warm and friendly and I always have a lovely time while visiting. I love their flag!!! I simply love Canada!!!! Mexico is okay, but Canada is where it's AT!!!
Tough choice. I've been to both. Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal are very nice large cities. However, the edge goes to Mexico. The large cities of Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan have at least as much to offer. Plenty of people speak English, so language is not really a problem. The weather is a big plus, and the pace is very relaxing.
I like both countries, but I'd definitely choose Mexico.
Mexico simply has a greater variety of almost everything--and living in Mexico doesn't mean having to be living in a slum or be involved in the drug war at all.
