I misspoke...

No, you either lied or made a mistake. Politicians can't admit to lying or making mistakes so they all claim to have misspoken.

Or they "cannot recall" something. Classic!

All "AT"s, above, are redundant.

Let's rewind:

"Where ARE you?"

"Do you know where the manager IS?"

"It depends on where I AM this afternoon."
I knew one person who did this.
My personal pet peeve but one which I admit having committed myself, is “literally”. Why does every other person alive seem to insert the word ‘literally’ left and right.

“This skin cream ‘literally’ will hydrate your skin with capsules of water.”

Rewind “This cream will hydrate your skin..”

“The other day I literally forgot my wallet and phone at home”

Re-do “ The other day I forgot my wallet and phone....”

Wherever I go, even some professionals seem to feel the need to ‘literally’ throw in the word. This is even addressed in Al Yankovics music video ‘Word Crimes’ . I literally wish people would stop using that word, I have started to cringe whenever I hear it plopped in the middle of a sentence.

ONLY.....

One of the most misplaced - not overused - but misplaced words in this language!

"This machine ONLY plays cassettes, not CD."

Rewind:

This machine plays ONLY cassettes, not CD.

At a retailer:
"You may ONLY bring 4 Pieces of Clothing Into This Fitting Room"
(You can only bring them in - but can you try them on??)

Rewind:

"You may bring ONLY 4 Pieces of Clothing Into This Fitting Room"

etc..

The word "but" used in an apology.

That simple, single word can change " I am sorry" to " I was justified "

If you can't omit " but" in an apology, omit the apology altogether.

Can I snitch on myself?
I overuse "actually" so much in a response that I'm beginning to hate it myself

Whenever I said that the response from my mother was: Right before the at.
