An older friend used to constantly make remarks like that, then I'd tease him with "Tippecanoe and Tyler too!" or "23 Skidoo!" and other time immemorial stuff.
For a long time, I thought that was one of his Russian words, then finally figured out it's an acronym for "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch."
Don't call me dumb, I was only 14 or so.
I have a bunch that every time I hear one, I write it down in my phone. I promise I'm actually holding back...
