I am interested in joining a Credit Union in Sheridan.

Any suggestions?

When I got here last summer, I checked all the banks' and credit unions' rates, services and features. I actually wound up staying in the banking world (FFSB) because it had accounts and rates that work best for a retiree. However, the Citgo FCU has an ATM card that is usable around the country if you travel a lot.

Thank you but I prefer not to use a company owned & run by Hugo Chavez.

It's not Citgo. It's Citco.

Thanks for the clarification. I checked out their web page and they seem OK.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for Sheridan FCU's?

Sorry, I can't help you. My credit union is not local.

I know several people that deal with local credit unions but would not go by their reasoning. I.e. "I joined because they are open on Saturday, or they are close to my house" etc. I don't know anything about their business practices.

The Credit Union I deal with is located in Virginia and is not only national, but world wide, with offices in several countries.

There is also Sunlight FCU in Sheridan. They're based in Cody.

If you're into trying to keep your money in Wyoming, but aren't into the other two, I use WyHy, and have been extremely satisfied with them. They're always able to either provide the cheapest or match the cheapest rate on Auto Loans for members, and their Online Banking and Smartphone Banking are really better than most out there. About the only thing you can't do on the phone is deposit checks, but I hear that is coming soon. Their customer service is top notch, and I always know who I am talking to when I call because they're small enough. They participate in Shared Branching and Co-Op ATMs. The upside is there are two free ATMs in Sheridan. The down side is neither of the two CUs in town participate in Shared Branching. The limitation is on the local side, not on WyHy's side. WyHy has branches in Casper and Cheyenne.
