Roads are slick with Drifted Snow, Snowfall, Blowing Snow, Limited Visibility. Both Lanes of I-90 between Exit 44, Piney Creek Rd and Buffalo is closed right now.

I-90 between Sheridan and Buffalo has just re-opened. Conditions are still slick with strong winds and blowing snow. If you are planning on traveling today please leave extra time as conditions are hazardous. You can hear up to date road and travel reports on any of our 9 radio stations!

This is the first time i have read about I-90 shut down due to storms. Ever since I have been reading in the CD Wyoming Forum 2012. Hope the weather improves a bit, but doesn't look like it until after Tuesday.

Roads being shut down in Wyoming including major highways is actually the norm. They are often short shut downs but you still need to be prepared. My MIL lives in Buffalo and the roads to Sheridan gets shut down a few times a year. I have heard that it is worse towards Gillette though. The wind across there makes visibility a problem during storms.

I90, between the Montana State line, and Dead Horse Creek Road (just shy of Gillette) have been shut down in various spots, a dozen times in these last 2 storms (since Christmas). That is more times in a week, than all last winter. Normally, they will post no unnecessary travel, but that is not the same as closed. These last couple storms have resulted in accidents that have actually caused closures.
