I'm moving out to Sheridan next week. This may sound fickle, but I wanted to find out if there are any good places to buy beer in town.

I'm not one of those yuppies that won't drink beer made from a brewery that makes more than a few cases a week. However, I am coming from Oregon, and we have an awesome selection of beers from smaller (although not "micro"), local breweries. It's not considered "yuppie-ish" around here to like these beers, since many of them are available in even the seediest of establishments. Even the worst dive bars here have them, and I can buy them here at Safeway, Walmart, and Costco.

Does the Wal Mart there sell beer, and do they have more choices than the usual Bud/Coors/Miller?

My favorites are made by a brewery here called Deschutes. I have seen their products as far away as Arizona. It's not a "microbrew", just more local than anything.

If anyone has info, please chime in. I'll be bringing a few cases with me, but they won't last forever.

We live in Buffalo and do our shopping in Sheridan. The Wal-Mart there doesn't sell any alcohol. I get mine from Crazy Woman Liquors or DJ's Liquor in Buffalo.

On this note...I was thrilled when we moved here to see that the liquor stores here sell Shiner Bock. I thought that was something we would only find in the south. Really good beer. My brother introduced me to Fat Tire, which I guess is a popular beer around here and brewed in Colorado. There's plenty of good micro breweries down there as well.

Try the Shiner!

In Wyoming you can only purchase alcohol in establishments that have a liquor license. That would be liquor stores or bars. There is no beer in grocery stores or Wal-Marts here. The liquor stores carry all the regulars and lots of micro brewery stuff also.. You should find what you need.

Thanks for the info...

I guess I forgot about New Belgium and.... well, whoever it is that brews Moose Drool (never was nuts about it), being so close.

My best friend is a huge fan of New Belgium, I've never had any of their stuff that I really like although my neighbor like Fat Tire, so he got me on it for a while. Hey, it was free.

Anyone heard of Mirror Pond or Bridgeport?
