I have a question about Lake Desmet near Buffalo/Sheridan.

We stopped at the marina while traveling in the area and it was packed with RV's and such and lots of signs with rules.

Are there accessible areas of the lake where you can walk along the beach with your dogs away from all the activities or camp outside of that busy area?

Lake DeSmet is owned by an operating company of Johnson County and the M&M Ranch. It is not a public facility beyond the designated recreation area that has been set aside for public use. Animals have to be leashed at all times and camping is only in the designated area. Being in other areas such as the far side of the lake constitutes trespassing since that is not public.

Realizing the title of this topic is "Wyoming-where to live, what's it really like", here is some information that Missy McAmis, a realtor in Hulett, put together. Sunsprit has covered lots of this on one or more occasions, but it's also a good summary:

That is an excellent blog! It should be a "sticky" IMO.
