Kicking around the idea of moving to York, SC off State Rd S 46-35, southeast of Sharon. Looking for a rural, safe area. Those of you that know the area, would this be an area you would consider safe for children? The schools decent? What are the pros and cons of this area? Making a decision within the next week. Current NC resident for the last decade.

Thanks for your time!

The biggest pro I can think of is that it is very unlikely that you will ever have to worry with Charlotte sprawl living out in York. I don't see it ever making it out that far. Yeah, if you are looking for rural, York is a pretty good option in the upstate...well close to upstate

Thank you for your time to respond. I'm from a rural northern state, live in the hustle of Lake Norman, and just ready to return to rural again. Is the area for the most part safe, do you know?

It's a simple small country town and consider it to be very safe. I've lived in York County since 1981 but not York. The times I've gone through York (maybe a few times a year), I've never felt unsafe.

If your goal is to simply get away from a heavily populated area yet be close enough to access a larger metro, York seems like a reasonable place to settle into. 50 minutes from Charlotte and an hour from Spartanburg/Greenville.

If it weren't for the daily commute to Charlotte that I would have to drive, I wouldn't hesitate to live in York.

Our daughter has lived in rural York for 12 years. No problems at all. It is a safe area of the county and is our capital. I am not familiar with the schools but I do follow football at York Comprehensive High School. We have friends that live in Sharon. You will be in the boonies but it's not far from grocery stores, medical care and shopping.

I don't know where you live in NC but if you are looking to live in the country you will find that in rural York. In addition you will find the property taxes cheaper in South Carolina.

You will be about 20 miles from Sadie Mae's Cafe great home cooked meals and delicious homemade desserts.

I live within the city limits of York...moved here 7 years ago and absolutely love it. Quiet, peaceful, safe. I don't know much about the rural areas surrounding the city, but I can say that I am happy to call York HOME!
