Boreal Ski Area

Skiing in California is more popular than many people think. At the Boreal Ski Area in Truckee, visitors can enjoy the 500-foot vertical drop, 41 different trails, tubing, and snowboarding. The rates are very reasonable so an afternoon skiing does not have to break the bank. For those who want to try skiing for the first time or those who want to brush up on their skills, Boreal offers beginning ski packages, group and private lessons, and snowboard lessons. If you do not own skis or a snowboard, rentals are available. The ski area is located on more than 400-acres of land with an average snowfall of 400 inches. The longest ski run is a mile and areas are divided into one-third beginner level, a little over half intermediate, and 15% for advanced skiers. The Boreal Kids Club is an opportunity for kids age four to ten to experience skiing and snowboarding. Snowboarders must be at least seven to participate. Instructors teach kids the basics of the snow sports and they have access to a Moving Carpet lift, making the runs easier and more fun. The Underground Sports Shop on the property allows visitors to pick up any ski necessities they forgot at home or to pick up some new equipment.
