Fresno Convention and Entertainment Center

The Fresno Convention and Entertainment Center began in 1966, as a place for local residents to attend events. The events will range from theater productions to conventions like weddings, seminars, and market conventions. It is a place for cultural, social, and convention use in Central Valley. The complex was built as three separate buildings with a 90 foot mall- way separating each of the buildings. The first buildings were William Saroyan Theater, one with 12 meeting rooms, and the Selland Arena. The theater has 32,000 square feet, while the arena can seat up to 6,500 people.

The complex now has five city blocks with five separate buildings. The Selland Arena was expanded in 1981 to have 11,300 seats. The exhibit hall was named Exhibit Hall South in 1999 and there is a new exhibit hall with 77,000 square feet that has 25 meeting rooms. The convention center is outfitted with art pieces that speak about nature and the community.

The theater has a number of different performances throughout the year such as Broadway shows. For example, Wicked, Fresno Monsters Hockey, Gurdas Maan, Fresno Philharmonic Orchestra, and Maddy Institute Fundraiser Banquet are some of the events at the convention center and theater.
