St. Nicholas Boat Line


St. Nicholas III and VII are historic sponge diving boats in Tarpon Springs, Florida. They are located at the World Famous Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks at Dodecanese Boulevard. On August 3, 1990, they were added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Tours are available along the Anclote River as visitors learn about the history of the St. Nicholas Boat Lines. The tour lines have been recognized in National Geographic and Argosy Magazine.

St. Nicholas Boat Lines will take you on a half hour tour down the Anclote River as the Captain gives a lecture on the history of sponge diving. He will show the different types of sponge as he explains how they are best used. A diver in a traditional suit will demonstrate how sponge are retrieved and prepared for marketing. Since 1924 St. Nicholas Boat Lines has welcomed tourist from all over the world and is a favorite educational field trip for students from pre-school through college. The boat line tours offer a wide range of tours that typically take about a half-hour to complete. Boat tours run from 10 am to 4:30 pm daily. Ample one hour parking is located nearby making it convenient to park and walk to the boat tour center.
