Tecopa Caverns

Also known as Mitchell Caverns, the Tecopa Cavers is a great trip for a few days away with the family. It is located in a rustic area that feels isolated and in the middle of nowhere. The ranger station is quite a distance away, but is a great starting point for your exploration. Previous visitors report that the area has great scenic views and that the rangers who work in the area are very helpful and will share a lot of information with visitors. The cost of a cavern tour is less than $10 per person and there is a small hike associated with the tour. Be sure everyone in your party is wearing comfortable, sturdy shoes and is capable of walking at least a half mile. Those with an interest in geology will love exploring the caverns. The walls, floor, and ceiling of the caverns are fascinating and filled with color and texture. The guides make the tours even more interesting by sharing facts about the caverns and surrounding area. There is a campsite nearby that offer great overnight accommodations. Ready yourself for a rustic experience because you will encounter a number of creepy-crawly insects and other wildlife like bats and lizards. The closest other attractions include the Avi Casino and the Old Mojave Trail.
