The Exploratorium


The Exploratorium Museum in San Francisco, California is unlike many due to the hands on exhibits they offer. There is even a hands- on laboratory with a number of interesting and educational displays. The museum was created to allow visitors to solve their curiosity by learning and awareness. There are numerous tools, films, and workshops visitors can take advantage of no matter their age.

The museum is closed on Mondays. Regular hours of operation are 10am to 5pm Tuesday through Sunday. They do close for major holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. Admission ranges from $10 to $15 depending on age. Adults are 18 to 64, with senior prices for those over 65. Children 4 to 12 are charged for entry. The Tactile Dome is $20 for admission to the dome and the rest of the museum. Residents can get into the Exploratorium for free on the first Wednesday of every month.

Exhibits include Culture, Earth, Everyday Science, Human Body, Listening, Living Things, Material World, and Mind. In the earth exhibit visitors will discover seismic slinky, arctic cultures, cookie subduction, tundra and permafrost, architecture, and Antarctic food web information. Living Things is an exhibit all about humans, animals and plants found on earth and the different ecosystems.
