The Laugh Factory


The Laugh Factory was founded in 1979 in West Hollywood, California. It is a world famous location and recognized as the number one comedy club. The original Laugh Factory is located on Sunset Boulevard. There is also a location in Long Beach, which opened in 2008. Jamie Masada was the inspiration behind the Laugh Factory and the comedy scene. Jamie had a hand in helping many of the biggest comics of today gain fame through his comedy club.

Several top actors and actresses have performed at the club including Roseanne Barr, Tim Allen, Milton Berle, Drew Carey, Jim Carrey, George Carlin, Redd Foxx, Eddie Griffin, Andy Kaufman, Carlos Mencia, Jeff Dunham, Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, and Chris Tucker.

Some of the current comedians include Ace Guillen, Adam Carolla, Alex Thomas, Bo Clark, and Ben Morrison. Throughout the year there are hundreds of performances from comedians at the Laugh Factory. The location is used to launch new skits by comedians, as well as for events. A common event is the Laugh Bowl. The Laugh Bowl allows anyone 18 years or older to enter. MTV is there looking for new talent and there is a prize for the top performers.
