The Matthew McKinley

Paddle wheelers have been replaced by modern boats and ships, but there are still a few in existence offering passengers a look at the past. The Matthew McKinley is an Old Victorian paddle wheeler also known as the Spirit of Sacramento. The riverboat is docked at 110 L Street in Old Sacramento, California. It is a white ship with a blue base, and two decks. The back of the boat has the typical red paddle wheel.

All cruises require a boarding time of 30 minutes prior to the boat's actual departure. It is imperative to make reservations in order to get aboard, especially during the busier summer months. They have special event tickets for New Years Eve, other holidays, Jazz cruises, and Wine Sampling Cruises. It is possible to book the cruise for a guest's own event such as a birthday party or wedding reception.

The Spirit of Sacramento was built in the 19th century and is considered a historical landmark. At the time two riverboats existed; however, only one has survived time. Other special events to take part in include the Murder Mystery Cruise, Captain's Brunch Cruise, and Karaoke Nights. The owners provide sunset cruises, as well as day cruises.
