Union Square


Visitors and locals will enjoy a day at Union Square in San Francisco, California. The square is 2.6 acres with borders of Geary, Stockton, Post, and Powell Streets. The square refers to the central hub of shopping, theater, and hotels. For those who want to enjoy entertainments of the city it is a good practice to book hotels at Union Square to be in the center of everything. The square was used for the Union Army during the Civil War. Today it is full of stores.

It is known as the largest area for department stores with upscale boutiques, art galleries, and trinket shops. The theater district near Geary Street and Tenderloin offers off Broadway productions. TIX Bay Area has tickets for sale on Ticketmaster for the various shows. Powell Street is two blocks to the south where one can find cable cars at Hallidie Plaza and Market Street. It is a retail haven for the SOMA district. Nob Hill is also within walking distance of Union Square for those who want to see grand mansions, more hotels, and apartment buildings. To the northeast of Union Square visitors will find Chinatown with the dragon gate at Grant Avenue and Bush Street.
