White Point

White Point Beach in Los Angeles has a lot of local appeal and lacks the crowds many of the other beaches in the area see on the daily basis. Travelers will like this beach because there is space for RV and tent camping nearby, as well as a number of local hotels. The beach offers a variety of recreational activities like swimming, fishing and boating and the Ocean Trails Golf Club is just a short distance from the main part of White Point. The White Point Royal Palms Shoreline Complex and the Palms Recreation Area are both great scenic vistas and provide additional recreational areas close to White Point. White Point was the former site of the White Point Hot Spring Hotel, a spa that reached its peak in visitation during the 1920's and 1930's. It was frequently visited by Japanese-Americans who enjoyed the natural spa treatments provided by the hotel. The ruins of the hotel are still visible on the beach. There is a memorabilia area near the picnic facilities that have pieces from the early 20th century enclosed in glass. The area also offers great views of Catalina Island. The beach can be reached by a paved road, that is somewhat steep, but it is possible to drive to the beach.
