Online dating in the United States is becoming more and more popular, especially for young people aged between 25 and 34: 28 percent of American dating site users belonged to this age group. During a 2014 survey it was found that 22 percent of dating site users were aged between 18 and 24. The number of dating site users between 35 and 44 years old and between 45 and 54 years old were both 18 percent. About 11 percent of dating site users fell in the 55 to 64 age group, and 4 percent were older than 65.

Organic foods are produced using principles of organic farming, which are governed by certain standards in many countries. Standards for organic farming may be voluntary or legislated. They generally feature practices that foster ecological balance, sustainable use of natural resources and restrict the use of certain pesticides and fertilizers in farming.

Every day millions of Americans download music over the Internet. With more than 70 authorized digital music services in the country, it is easier than ever to download and listen to music anywhere. In 2014, 56.34 million people downloaded music, and over 115 million of people used streaming services. In 2015 the numbers increased to 65.63 million downloaders and almost 130 million streaming users. The forecast suggests that in 2016 the total number of Americans who download music will be around 65.44 million, while the number of streaming users is expected to grow to 140.48 million people.

Unemployment rate in America: numbers and predictions

The rate of unemployment in the United States is an important economic factor affected by global competition, education and demographics. The unemployment rate in 2014 was 6.2 percent, decreasing from 7.4 percent in 2013. Since 2010 (9.6 percent) the rate of unemployment in America decreased slightly. Thus, the rate was 8.9 percent in 2011 and 8.1 percent in 2012. Notably, the highest rate of unemployment in 20 years was recorded in 2010.

The most important problems in 2015

The United States is a multiethnic country with a diverse society. As one of the most influential counties in the world, it faces a wide range of social problems and hot topics. According to information published by Statista, the most important problem in the United States in 2015 was the public’s dissatisfaction with the government – 17 percent of respondents named this issue as the most important. About 15 percent stated that the country’s economy in general as the biggest problem in America, while 12 percent said that immigration and illegal aliens were the most important. According to 8 percent of the surveyed Americans, the biggest problem in the country was unemployment and jobs. The issues of ethics, religious decline and racism were named by 7 percent of respondents.

People get their first job later in New York and Florida

As we have already seen in the previous post, the average age of people entering the job market (as well as those who re-enter it) has increased significantly in the last 15 years.

We also know that there are multiple geographical business and industry patterns in the United States, which may as well influence the age at which people get their first job. So today, we are going to examine the differences between states in that aspect. Looking ahead, they indeed prove to be quite drastic.

An Average American’s day

Today we will analyze data from the American Time Use Survey, which is sponsored by the Bureau of Labor Statistics and conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau. For this survey, a range of people age 15 and older are asked questions about their daily activities and time spent in a diary-like form. With this information we can explore how different groups of people use their time. So, let’s have a look at an average American’s daily schedule.
