Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Frisco Seeing Green With The New Reedy Lions

Posted 08-28-2015 at 09:25 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

They don't start varsity athletic play until next year, but that won't stop me from mentioning Frisco's newest high school, Reedy. The Reedy Lions just opened their doors to classes this week, with new bricks, new steps, new rooms, well, new everything. Excitement builds as the students here anticipate things to come in this new school year.

Their colors will be green, blue, and silver. The green part is important because they are the first Frisco ISD high...

Between The Lines: A Parking Problem On Our Hands

Posted 08-24-2015 at 07:56 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

I don't know if it's a generational thing or not, but you wonder where some drivers got their training. I always thought comedy was saved for defensive driving school....

Have you seen the way some people park their cars nowadays? As you know, spaces in parking lots are usually arranged a certain way, and it's a simple way. Stripes. Spaces have stripes. Some are freshly painted. Others are so faded, it's laughably even worse than my jeans. When we...

Have A Nice Weekend, Won't You?

Posted 08-21-2015 at 05:59 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Wonder if timeliness is next to cleanliness? Well, that's another blog typefest for another day. Hi, everyone! Just want to take a break from the norm and just wish you all a happy weekend. I don't have a lot of plans, and so, I'm staying around the apartment like a good boy scout.

Hope your plans are plenty and take you many great places, even if you don't travel. There are a lot of things out there: Picnics, washing the car, cleaning your toilet,...

We Interrupt This Summer To Bring You....

Posted 08-20-2015 at 08:08 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

.....one lulu of a cold front.

No, not cool front. This one was cold, the one that cranks up the outdoor A/C following upper 90s temps. Get this: We didn't even make it to 80 degrees this afternoon (77 was as high as it got, with overcast clouds overhead). This is August in North Texas, and on this very day, it couldn't even reach 80, let alone 90. Usually at this time of the year, the lows are 80 and the highs are 100 to 104. This was no ordinary summer...

The Funny Things That Sometimes Happen At Work

Posted 08-19-2015 at 02:18 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)
Updated 08-19-2015 at 07:21 PM by case44

Part of my job includes gathering information from courier drivers, as well as giving them instructions for new orders. As much as the job demands, there can be some humorous moments, some of which are purely coincidental.

I mention that because I'm reminded of some funny job completions that took place through the years. Last week, we took a proof-of-delivery for a run at an Old Navy store. An Old Navy. And the person who signed for it had a first name of.............Marine....
