Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

An Exercise In Solving The Medicament Predicament

Posted 06-28-2020 at 11:07 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

New technology offering reminders is one thing. New technology causing a big annoyance is another.

I won't say the name of the pharmacy, but this writer just hates robocalls, especially when they come for things not really needed. Oh, it's a medicament that I use, but goodness, the dosage changed a few months earlier. So, the robocall comes across one day last spring and sez that my prescription has been filled and is ready for pickup. I didn't take the...

San Angelo Awaits The Vacation Man

Posted 06-25-2020 at 06:51 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Ol' Case has to slave through another week of work before taking off for July 4. And next week will be extra sweet, in that I will have only four work days before departing for the longest vacation bloc I will take this year. This time, it's San Angelo and all things Concho as the Vacation Man will ride off once again.

COVID-what?? It's time, and this writer is going to take to the road. Don't worry, folks. I'll have both of my masks with me on the road trip....

It Happened Yesterday, But This Just Happens To Be....

....the second day of summer.

Yes, it was yesterday (being the first day of summer), and this writer forgot about it. The longest amount of daylight during the year occurs at this time of the year. Personally, I love earlier color changes in the sky and the late sunsets. If only the rest of the year could do likewise.

Enjoy it, folks.

When One Thing Doesn't Work, Just Try Another Thing

Case could not get rid of a slow drain.

Tried every container of Drano and that other thing. Even the hair unclogger that the container brags about did somewhat marginally. Oh, and this clog isn't in the sink, folks.

It's in the bathtub.

When I came home from work this afternoon, I discovered that my bathtub/shower area was still filled with water from this morning. It never drained. So, now, instead of a really slow...

The Many Ways Of Elvis Conducting His Band

Posted 06-17-2020 at 07:48 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

I get a kick out of these vids, but there's reason to pay attention. You should take time and check out how Elvis Presley "directs" his band at his concerts.

A notable set of examples happens to have taken place in Honolulu at his Aloha concert that he did back in 1973. It's still some of the most legendary concert footage ever done, with equally legendary music. I've got links to the YouTube videos with specific songs citing the different ways Elvis conducts...
