Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Sky Scenes And Favorite Moon Shots

Posted 09-13-2010 at 05:47 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Usually when I discuss early mornings, the subject is sunrise. Sometimes, I get fascinated at what occasionally happens before the colors change from darkness to light. Like, for example, the position of the moon in relation to where the view of the sunrise will eventually be. To preface this undertaking with perspective, my patio door faces northeast from my bedroom. Perfect!

To put it in a nutshell, I love moon views. You name them, I like them....

Brooms And Mops? How About Rags, Dishwashers, And Common Sense?

As much as I enjoy the pleasures of eating out, I can't help but think of one key value that is supposed to be part of the fabric of making restaurant life successful and profitable. It's hard not to notice when you pick up your fork and discover that there is some gunk or foreign particle on it from a previous customer that did not get washed away during cleaning.

Should said cleaning of utensils be placed in quote/end-of-quote now?? I say that because I'm seeing this situation...

The Friday Night Lights Are Shining Once Again

Posted 08-27-2010 at 06:12 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Never mind that my state just had a strong cold front move through a couple of days ago. There happens to be something more important that is already taking place. High school football is once again in full swing in the state of Texas and across the country.

My area has already had a few games played, so all the pigskin gurus are ready for action. The plans on my calendar already include games on a few Thursdays and eight of the next eleven Fridays. Since I don't have...

Senior Moments And Mondays: Coincidence?

Posted 08-23-2010 at 05:09 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

It all began really well, actually. Despite the fact that it is Monday all over the world, I had an excellent day at work. I got my work done as per the usual (and, occasionally, the unusual), and the time had come to run errands before venturing home for dinner. Successful stops and this writer got what he needed.

The evening now begins at the Case abode and, having done the necessary things I needed to do for the moment, it became time for dinner. Arriving...

A Little (Twenty Dollar Bill) Goes A Long Way

The following incident could easily be classified under the "Things That Just Never Happen" category. And this is because you and I don't see this type of thing happening every day. It doesn't. But first, let me set up the story for you.

Saturday morning at the Case abode offered something a little different than the usual. My favorite DJ on my favorite program actually took a vacation. The fact that he took a vacation isn't the big issue. It's...
