Although true, hunters DO eat, at least the skilled ones do, my name derives from the world of horses.

And because the word hunter is in my name, people automatically think I'm a guy. Not even close.

Whenever I meet someone named Hunter I have to bite my tongue to keep from saying "That's my name, too!"

I think I've written 20-eleven awesome blog entries but they usually get recorded in my questionable memory (long term loss of short term memory is one byproduct of growing up in the 70's) Not this time. I'm alone - a condition that seems to help my creative juices.

How You Act When a Turkey Flies Up Your Nose

Posted 02-24-2017 at 08:37 PM by hunterseat (Keeping it Kind)

The elderly minister took a seat and continued speaking to his congregation. We all knew he hadn't been well but he appeared strong. He was speaking about reacting to hardship. We were listening intently.

Pausing, he pointed to a cup sitting on the podium and asked the young choir director to hand him the water. Scrambling to comply, Jamie hurried over, balancing the full cup of water. As he handed it over, the pastor grabbed Jamie's arm and shook. Poor Jamie was mortified...and...

Posted 12-22-2016 at 05:24 PM by hunterseat (Keeping it Kind)

That’s an expression, isn’t it? “On a shoestring”. What does that make you think of? A shoestring budget? Doing great things with very little. Seems small and insignificant but it really speaks of accomplishment.

Shoestrings are tricky little things. Not at all significant. But greatly overlooked. Until you trip on one. Then what happens? You fall? What if you’re on the stairs? You could break your neck!

My son hated shoestrings. He always wanted Velcro...

Better than Snakes?

Posted 09-25-2016 at 08:56 AM by hunterseat (Keeping it Kind)

I was humming along, sorting through winter clothes in the basement when I heard the family cat talking. The tone of voice was one I hadn't heard since his lizard-hunting days in Hawaii. When I located him he was behind a box looking up. (that's never good) I looked up, too. A snake was hanging down the wall and backing away from the verbal threats assaulting him from below.

That's the one and only time I saw that snake. It wasn't a poisonous snake but...does that matter to real snake...
