Yucca Valley versus San Gorgonio Pass--to retire in

Hi Everyone, I am doing some internet research for my parents who don't have a computer. They're looking for a place to invest in a retirement home, and to retire since they can no longer afford Simi Valley where they currently live. They're thinking Yucca Valley due to the friendliness they encountered there on a brief trip, also there seem to be a lively mix of people-artists and down to earth folk, fellow baby boomers, etc. From scouring these forums, some things to consider before moving...
