My City Data Addiction
This is my first blog entry on this forum, but I'm not new to blogs. I started one in a hobby forum, but because I slowly drifted into a slacker status with my projects, I had no new one to post and keep up with the rest. Man, they must quilt 24/7 over there.
I contemplated on a theme for my blog so that I would be motivated to keep posting on a regular basis, so for an opening, I think I would discuss my CD addiction.
I've heard many people here in CD admit to this, and it was most evident a couple months back when the upgrade was loaded and CD was out of commission. Oh the hand wringing that followed after that!
Sheepishly, I would admit that I was one of those who every 5 minutes checked the status of the last post, thought I did something wrong to my PC, or worse, thought I had some infraction that the Gods in Mt. Moderation felt was so bad that they just yanked my privileges without notification! I trembled each time I tried to sign on, knowing for SURE that my Senior Member designation would now say Not a Member, a big red letter if you ask me!
To my relief (and I'm sure hundreds of others) it was just an upgrade glitch, and so, everyone just heaved a collective (worldwide and nationwide) sigh of relief.
Now back to this addiction...I am constantly on CD because (and maybe I actually have to confront this so that a 12-step program can work if ever necessary):
I need validation before I buy a product or call a service guy for something that inevitably goes wrong in my house. I have been successful in convincing DH that the people of CD are downright knowlegeable in things like that.
I have to see what's going on in my 'hood...latest eats, break-in, re-routing of roads, festivals, jobs, etc. etc.
I like posting my beginner attempts at Photography and beam when the experts like it...happy as a kid!
Every now and then I'd like to go into something controversial, and see what nerves I touch! (The DEVIL made me do it!
)
I have issues with my dog...
I have issues with my kids...
I have issues with my husband...
I have issues with work in general...
BUT...
Most of all, I follow certain posters and what they post. They have taken on a personality in cyberspace. I could almost predict how they would respond to a post!
So, going forward, I think I would be profiling the CD posters...no I would NEVER refer to their user names here, but they are extremely fascinating, or boring, or predictable, or extremely brilliant, or conniving, or tenderhearted, and so on and so forth.
Almost quitting time...I think I got most spelling right. I have yet to figure out how to edit. TTFN...

Since discovering CD, I usually stay logged on (almost) all day, and mutli-task, since I have other things to do online. It's the first thing I check when I wake in the morning, the last thing I check before I go to sleep.....
Hello, my call-sign is "Fedup" and I'm a CD addict too.Posted 06-24-2008 at 08:54 PM by FedupWNY -
We're a pitiful lot.... I need to come up with some great excuses like those. So it looks like I have some really important business here at the keyboard.

My City Data Addiction
Some experts in the medical field are presently purporting that Americas number one health problem is no longer heart disease or cancer, but a deadly condition labeled Syndrome X. This condition is described as a combination of several metabolic problems such as being overweight, having high blood pressure, being insulin resistant, and/ or having abnormal cholesterol levels that are all related to a poor diet and a lack of exercise. The sum is greater than the parts in this syndrome. Each metabolic problem is a risk for other diseases separately, but together they multiply the chances of life-threatening illness such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and stroke, etc.

Could it be that this Syndrome X could be caused by lack of exercise and poor diet? Or maybe spending too much time on CD and snacking?
