What Now

Here I am, 51, and at a complete loss to understand what is next in life. My husband and I completely disrupted our lives about 11 months ago and moved across country to follow a wonderful career opportunity for me. However, now I wonder how wise was that decision. We have struggled to make connections in a city/state which boast a demographic of 80% white. Connecting to the type of "warm, embracing" black community is very tough and we are beginning to fold into ourselves. Not good! After living my life with extreme certainty of what was next for me, I find the ground is unfamiliar terriority of uncertainty in Denver. Perhaps because the community of Africian Americans is so small, it is also somewhat clickish which is a bit foreign. What Now? Hold on to the career opportunity or retreat to a community of my own which has encouraged me when I lament over being the "onlyest" one at the boardroom table, comforts me with family cookouts and edgy insider jokes and laughter for my soul. Hmmm, What Now???:rolleyes:

WOW. I was considering the move to Denver. Is it really that bad for african americans there? No unity? I heard that race didn't really play much of a big deal out there. I am relocating out there from Atlanta and I won't lie I have worried about the small percentage of AA there but through my research concluded it wasn't such a big deal. I have mixture of friends and really never let race be a factor in how I live my life. However I want to comfortable and don't want to feel out of place. WOW now I have mixed feelings about denver.
