Lone Mountain is a small peak in the Spring Mountains. It is at the eastern edge of the Springs which is the western edge of the Las Vegas Valley.
It is separarted by a mile or so from the rest of the Springs...so it sticks out there all by itself.

Lone Mountain rises to about 3300 feet from a 2600 foot base.
Has a reasonably gentle trail up its spine from the north west corner.
From the top one can see the entire Vegas Valley.
From the caves one can see what is and will transpire.

Very nice shot. I've always had a great fascination with deserts and things of the American West. Always have loved mountain pics. Fantastic!!

While beautiful and massive, I prefer mountains with trees covering them. Whenever I fly into LV and look down upon the mountains, they always remind me of big dirt piles...like there should be huge kid down there playing with a huge Tonka truck.
