Exercise Today

I finally got to go to exercise session today 
With everything going on, its hard to get there, simply because all the cars are occupied. Well, my Daughter's car wasnt, as she was hospitalized, but, theres that driving while under medication thing again, and, when my Son came home, he either walked the track, or went to Karate (OK, Tai Kwon Do is the same as Karate to me, just beating the crap out of someone, by another name, but, its all oriental in nature, and, a good philosophy in life, if you like that sort of way...Unfortunately, in America, with all the bullying around, it would be hard to 'live it', since its a passive state, and bullies just thrive on that sort of thing).
I love the Japeneese architectual gardens and 'flavor', as its a beautful designs, and always peaceful in nature. Unfortunately, with the small yard I have, I dont have the flair to do that sort of thing, designing all that wonderful stuff...Now, I dont have the back to build any of it, if I did have design in hand... Oh well, I will just leave the gardening to my Wife, and enjoy the flowers and colors that spring to life, for our enjoyment

Back to Karate...
My Son showed me a bamboo 'rod' that the 'Sensai' gave him. It looks like a Kitanni sword, but made of bamboo. Looks like they took 4 sides, and wrapped it in fabric, and it has a round disc near the bottom.
They were beating each other today with those things!!
White Belt = Novice
Blue Belt = Black & Blue
Red Belt = Blood
(Dont ask me, its what the Instructor told my Son, sheesh!). Apparently, the higher the belt, the more 'pain' you should be able to take, with out flinching, and thus, keep on fighting!! Uh, yeaaaa.. LOL. And to think, he 'pays' someone to beat on him.. I told him I would do it for free ROTFLOL
They were hitting each other over the arms, and outside on the legs, and they said they were going 'easy' on him, since he doesnt have a higher belt yet, but, when he gets to blue, he will 'get whats coming to him' OOOOK... Thats something to look forward to! sheeeeeesh....
The Sensai told my Son to 'punch him in the stomach'.. My Son said 'WHAAAA??' Yep, thats what he wanted, my Son to nail him good in the stomach as hard as he could.
Now, my Son has great reservation about doing something like that, to someone who could use him as a dust cloth and wipe the floors with him, if the guy 'looses it'..(Cant say I blame him either!)... So, its going to be hard for him to get over his reservations about busting someone in the gut, who is teaching him... (Just wait til its 'his turn' and I bet he will wish that he nailed that instructor, fast and hard, when he starts getting welts on his body from the blows of the bamboo, and punches).
I will have to admit, this Dojo teaches a whole lot of different things, like knife fighting, sword fighting, (you have to be certain belt and stripe to be eligable for those things), and my Son is really looking forward to that. I know he will stay with this, because its more interesting, than 'going through the motion of fighting, and never laying a glove on anyone... My Sister in law, had to wait a very long time in her Tai Bo, to be able to go 'full contact' against anyone.. Now, after all these years, she is going to try again for her black belt in that soon...(Thats definetely for the young, because you have to 'fight', continuously, for two hours straight!! Tough on older people to keep up that sort of windage going for them).
Im waiting for my Son to inquire about the 'concealed guy carrying permit'. This Sensaii got his certification to teach it, in three States I think my Son said, and I would be interested in getting that permit. If your carrying a whole bunch of weapons out to the range, and you get stopped, it goes a whole lot easier on ya, if you can show that...(less hassle, because they 'know' that you 'know' what your doing, because your certified and have to get recirtified every so many years). The Government, any way to make a buck for either them, or someone else, where they require you to get recirtified all the time. Same as with my Waste Water liscence. Used to be, you sent 25 bucks in every two years, and they were happy. Then, the EPA wanted people to take 'refresher courses' of 12 or 24 hours to be eligable to send the 100 bucks in, (everyhting raises when the Government gets involved, sheesh). Used to cost the City Thousands of dollars per man/woman to get us recirtified, by going to classes in a City, half way across the State, and having to stay in Hotels while attending the Classes. (That was the major point I hated, being away from my family for a week or less, and it was a total waste of time, and Im glad I RETIRED
My Daughter went and got her Cousin, from up River-->way out in the boonies of West Virginia... She called and asked if her Cousin could stay overnight.. Didnt say, she had to go miles out in the woods to get her. Wife wasnt happy, and I was concerned, but, she is a big girl, and can drive, (though, she is running around on 'my gas', and it aint cheap!).
But, since I know the situation with her Cousin, I would say OK to getting her for a sleep over, just so the girl gets a break from baby sitting every day with out getting paid fo it. She is a good kid, and everyone needs a break.
Called my Buddy in North Carolina, to see how bad the weather is now. He says that its been raining all day long, but, no wind, just drizzles and light rain so far.
I told him to wait til 2pm tomorrw, ol Irene will be looking and peeping into thier nook, cracks and every cranny that they have to offer a few billion rain drops to hide in ...
I just hope and pray that they stay safe, and sound, and no damage occurs to thier place. 12 hours will be the tale of the tape, as it were, because it will be LIVE, and not Memorex LOL (OK, look for that in an old commercial, sheesh
Wife got her new Hearing Aide. (Only got one, because they told her the nerves were dead in the other ear??!) Strange thing is, she still has her old on in the other ear, and can hear echos with her new one, so, she cant be as nerve damaged as they claim she is.
Wife can hear with this hearing aide, (course, she could do that, if she put a new battery in more often with the old one too LOL...But, Im not supposed to say that, am I???). The true test will be, when she goes to Church on Sunday. Can she hear the Preacher? Does it cancel out noise around her? Or, does she hear everything from around her, so its impossible to concentate on anything... I will get a report when she comes back and we shall have to see what can be done to correct any flaws.
Kids... The reason I go into such details with what ever I do, is because you both have told me that you have lost a good part of your childhood, probably due to being traumatized by all those operations you both have gone under the knife for, and recovery is no picknic either, so, if I see, or hear of anything different that happens in our lives, you will have this record, (providing City-Data is still here, when the LORD Calls me Home, then you can look back and see all the things you will be wondering how i got 'that' sort of impression or 'take' on things that has happened.
Time for a Rack Attack!!
