Will Augusta always be limited

Augusta GA, the home of the world famous Masters Golf Tournament, the states only school of dentistry, and many valuable assets such as Fort Gordon. All these things you would think would make the city a big hit around the state and southeast, however one thing will always limit Augusta. That is a lack of north south connectivity. I'm talking about a north south interstate. Cities like Austin TX have maximized there one interstate by branching off bypasses. Augusta has a ton of potential but until it develops a north south interstate it will always be a second or third place city.

Transportation must become a metro area wide thing, example, Riverwatch is a parkway from Columbia County to downtown. In it's present state it looks like a local road. To be a metro wide road it must be controlled access with different exits. Augusta needs to establish a model for its streets. My model for highways is Ashford Dunwoody Rd in Dunwoody Ga. 6 lanes with a raised median with the exception of interstates, Gordon Hwy, and Riverwatch which should have concrete medians. Lets build like a big city not a small one.
