Ending the Year In Style

I went into work early today with the idea that I would get away at about noon. I wanted to go to my exercise facility for get in a little work on the elliptical, and then do some grocery shopping before my boyfriend and I go out to dinner this evening.
Earlier today at work I was visited by two salesmen representing an area vender. After the two men had taken a couple of chairs in front of my desk, I clumsily dropped a pen onto the floor. While I was bent over seated on my chair and reaching down to try to locate the pen with my fingers, a rather large drop of drool spontaneously slid out of my mouth and plopped onto my desktop a few inches below my leaning face. Normally I am alone when I do these inadvertent unsightly things, I was not so lucky today. The two gentlemen saw everything. They were staring right at me when the drool slowly oozed out of the corner of my mouth like cold maple syrup out of a bottle.
I quickly sat upright and using a sleeve, wiped up the wayward slobber. Neither of the men said a word, there was not a chuckle. Undaunted, I smiled best I could and then said, “Sorry about that. I come from a long line of chronic droolers.” The two men started to chuckle. Although I still felt embarrassed, the laughter made me feel a little less so.
What a stylish thing to do during one of the final hours of 2012. Hopefully next year will start off better. I guess it won't be long before I find out. As my grandfather would say, "There passes one more boxcar in the freight train of life."
