This blog is basically to chart my progress in trying to lose weight...

This is a Record of my daily events including my family when appropriate for my other family members to see if they choose to.

This is my legacy, for my family to read after I am dead and burried. So, any thing on here is meant for them only and if it offends anyone, my apologies, but, its not meant for you and them

Chow for now...

May the LORD Bless all who see this.

I wish you well...

New Reciever

Posted 03-05-2014 at 12:15 PM by woodworkingmenace

Today, we got our new Reciever from Dish Network.
What is this, about the third or fourth Reciever we have replaced?
Im thinking its from 'dirty power'... Spikes in the transmission lines, going down to the electronics and destroying them. Sure, your toaster and food processor wouldnt feel the difference in the spikes, but, those silly electrical things like resistors and transistors and what nots, feel the extra energy feeding into them and zaps them a good charge!

I learned about dirty power, when I was having issues of my TVs burning out in a year or two... After replacing the innards of a Curtis Mathis a couple of times, I started to inquire as to why it was happening, and was told to look for it.
Also, I was getting some interferrence in my CB radios that was showing up in my TV as interference (was on Cable, so, shouldnt of been any problem with that part), and I asked the Electrical Department of the City about that.

I was thinking, I was getting some feedback from the 30 foot antenna I had (Moonraker 6) about my house, and on a 50 foot tower, so I installed a ground system, (wires laid out on the ground, raidally, and insterted under the ground to negate any 'white noise'.

Didnt help. They even said check the thermostat, so, I put in a different one, and that wasnt any help. The Electrical Company said it wasnt 'thier fault'...though, they wouldnt even bother checking out thier equipment to find out, and I was getting mighty irritated about all of this.

I took down the tower and antenna, and dug up the ground system, and got rid of them all.

I put an extra ground on my electrical box to make sure it wasnt my fault. Still it persisted.

It wasnt until they finally changed out the transformer that was near my home, that it finally quit! Yea buddy...
Try and tell the Electrical Utility that they owe you for a new TV and see where it gets you.. NO PLACE! sheesh. And, to think, I moved a block from that old place, next to a substation LOL... No chance of a leaky transformer there, is there...
Actually, no! They take care of that place like it was a baby... for weeks they would come and do things to it, and all through the year, every time it tripped out, they were there, babying that puppy like it was an egg and they had it on a spoon, running to beat the band LOL. Dont let it fall or drop

Well, as long as Dish wants to keep me as a customer, and keeps sending me new Recievers, I will keep them as my viewing choice...(even though, there are so many advertising channels, and I would be better off getting cable, and only watching what I want to watch, instead of passing by huge blocks of advertisements, sheesh).

Daughter is thinking of taking classes to become a phlebotomist, (not to be confused with a lobotomiist who removes part of your brain). She wants to draw blood from sick patients... I sure hope she thinks this through, because accidents happen, and I would hate to see her draw blood from an Aides Patient, and get stuck with a needle, and contract the disease!!
Im going to pay for this, so it would be hard to live with myself, if that would occur, but, I cant fault the girl for wanting to 'better herself', in her situation, so I have to give in, even though, I have reservations about it.

Will she complete the course? Who knows.
If so, she has a job offering for her services, as soon as she gets her liscense to stick and draw blood.

I wish her well...
