hunterseat df: Hunter Seat Equitation is a division that is judged on the ability and the style of the rider. The riders can be judged both over fences and on the flat.

Although true, hunters DO eat, at least the skilled ones do, my name derives from the world of horses.

And because the word hunter is in my name, people automatically think I'm a guy. Not even close.

Whenever I meet someone named Hunter I have to bite my tongue to keep from saying "That's my name, too!"

Geppetto lives in my neighborhood

I think I met Pinnocchio's dad yesterday.

I finished my paperback and knew, if I didn't pick up another, I'd be laying awake with nothing to read and that's the pits. Not far from my house is a neat little home with bright flowers and manicured lawn. Near the street is a birdhouse-looking box that holds books. Anyone is welcome to stop by and pick up a book. So that's where I headed.

I took the dogs along, turned on my flashers and pulled up alongside the curb. As I made my selection a lady came out of the house and said "my husband would like to talk to you about books". So I pulled the car off the street and went up to the porch.

I wish I could remember his real name but he was a small framed older man. He spoke with a thick Italian accent, though his wife had none. Stupid me "I bet he can make some good spaghetti!" But she smiled and pointed to herself.

They invited me in and WOW do they have a lot of books. I think he said he reads a book every day or two. She handed me a plastic grocery bag and I proceeded to look through a box that he's about to donate to the library. I picked out 4 or 5 including the ones from the birdhouse out front.

As he accompanied me out and I complimented his home he showed me some of the things he built, including the small shed behind the garage that was his workshop. See? He really is like Geppetto! I wonder if he has any puppets in there? He retreats to his shop and prefers that to socializing - though he was very inviting to me.

I thought it interesting that he believes no one reads books anymore and everyone is (he makes the universal language of a person holding a phone texting). It's very sad that we can't talk and/listen to the wisdom of someone who speaks several languages, works with his hands, is about to celebrate his 83rd birthday, and is as charming as anyone you'd ever meet.

I hope I get to spend some more time with this lively man and his wife. I have a few books to finish first!
