Religious Faith is unnecessary

Posted 12-09-2016 at 01:48 AM by ocpaul20

I would say that religious faith is unnecessary.

KNOWING is the thing we all need.

Less Faith, More KNOWING
I see orthodox religion like intellectuals at university. Professors at university cannot effectively speak with passion from the heart and truly inspire their students unless they have practical hand-on knowledge of business and the real world.

A deep-down knowing is far better than an intellectual faith based belief system which is full of shoulds and oughts. A parent who guides and encourages is far better at raising a well-adjusted child than one who punishes and criticizes. A practical lesson is remembered and makes more impact than a dry lecture.

Ancient Knowledge and Practices
I believe religions of all types including Christianity, have somewhere the ancient knowledge and practices to allow everyone to know in their heart and to have a special relationship with their God. I dont mean the prayer learned by following along those actions done by others, I mean the techniques and practices which produce real effects and by which we can all develop the proper respect and awe which the Universe deserves. I think if 'occult' societies and groups have these type of practices and techniques, then orthodox religions must have their own versions of practices and techniques which are currently hidden from the group members or which have been lost in history.

Of course there are current practices and rituals which are performed in church services, but these are often carried out by the priests alone, and they are hollow. They do not produce any spiritual results to take away. Having attended a service in which these rituals or practices were performed, what has the congregation learned from the ritual? How has their knowledge of the Universe and God increased? Very often, readings from a holy book are forgotten when we leave the building.

Those who argue for their belief system as the only one which is true and correct are perhaps just kidding themselves. Are we so arrogant to think we have all the right answers and everyone else with other beliefs are wrong? If so, then maybe we need to re-examine our perspective and question our current relationship with our God?

A Strong Connection to God
Personally knowing their connection to God, makes a strong and confident spiritual person who is continually learning more about the Universe in all its glory. A person who KNOWS does not have to show others they know, they have that deep-down understanding which is far better than faith or a belief that what they have been told or read is true. Knowledge of Other Realities makes us wise and compassionate to other beings whether they be human or not. Leaders in the church need to be respected for their integrity, knowledge and compassion which can only be gained by spiritual experience. Like a good teacher, leaders need to remain humble of their position and develop skills in those who are behind them on the learning path. A job well done is a student's potential realised - even if it surpasses the teachers own skills.

My Journey
My spiritual journey has been a strange one. As a Christian in my early years, I could not relate and I could not get many questions answered with practicalities. Faith was the bottom line but I needed more concrete things to believe in. Budhism, Spiritualism, and now, I am not sure what to label it. All these have answered some questions and brought up more, which leads me to believe there is more to God than the various religions would have us think. My God is not a personal one but universal and not aligned to any one set of human beliefs. I think this is more likely and creates less conflict between beings.

I would be interested to hear your views.
