Orange County Homeless Thread

Posted 06-01-2018 at 12:08 AM by Fencedweller

There’s a program called Housing First now. Grants that help the chronically homeless rent apartments, rooms, studios.

1st guy I placed had been homeless for 8 years, chronic. He was a homeowner with a business. Specialized auto work. Workplace exposure caused respiratory disability and he couldn’t work in the field.

It was happening right as Bush was leaving the White House and our unemployment rate was sky 10% high (before Obama got it down to 4% which is what Trump inherited along with a healthy economy after Obama inherited 2 wars and had to buyout the banks and Wall Street, Obama tried to raise minimum wage for 7 years and was obstructed by Republicans ...) and the republicans destroyed the housing market. So, he couldn’t find other work, lost his house, broke up with his wife and once you’re homeless, 1 opportunity just isn’t enough. He doesn’t drink or use drugs. It happened at the wrong time in our 2006-2010 recession which is what caused the homeless booms to follow.

Most Americans are a paycheck away from the same fate when they become prematurely disabled or severely ill or hurt or laid off or succumb to mental illness and of course, drug addicted but not as many as you’d think, they’re just the messy ones you see.

Many of them didn’t choose to be that way, who would?

The guy I placed has income now, enrolled in a certification to learn a new, non-hazardous, non-strenuous vocation. He keeps his apartment immaculate.

There are great intentions with helping others in need, but how unbelievable that you would write such misleading nonsense in the context of trying to help. This is nothing more than a far-left political rant. You can't glorify President Obama because he did nothing to improve a downward economy, as he basically sought to keep the people you tried to help homeless and out of work. Our economy didn't get better during Obama's presidency; he never even achieved 3 percent GDP growth. President Trump will certainly do more for those people, as in the last seventeen months, more people are going back to work in numbers never before seen. It's down to 4% unemployment NOW, not four years ago when it was really closer to 20 percent. Which would you rather have; food stamps from Obama or prosperity under Trump? You've got to stop watching the mainstream media make every attempt to lie to you just to make Democrat politicians look good when their agenda isn't about creating jobs or wealth.

Those people you help are in better shape today than they'd have been just four years ago. They should have no problems at all finding a really good job or a place to stay. The demand will be there. If you think the answer is solely the government, then you have been sadly misled.

President Trump is giving our country back to us, the people!
